Waking up in the middle of the woods, next to a gravel road,

breakfast by the beach, and after beer at a local brewery. This is how the day started.

This all happened while moving north. On the way we spotted a coffee shop inside a container, or better explained, we spotted a container which happened to be reconditioned as a coffee shop. We stopped there to have a chai latte, what would become the new favourite warm drink of the trip. The coffee shop was beautifully decorated, every detail was well taken care of.

There I randomly met a couple of guys, while I was checking out a couple of surf boards (which were the owners ones and, when not using them, were part of the decoration). One of them was Panda, an Australian who moved in Tasmania and abandoned office work years ago and now just works as guide for tourists and surf teacher. The change to Tasmania was a way of seeking more calm live. The other, Gary a Tassie who loves surf and has a surf school, 42° surf school, and Panda works with him now.

They told me if I would like to surf today, I told them; hell yeah! I went to talk with Hugo and Marion and 5 minutes after we were all together, in the coffee shop, talking about the logistics.

Surfing was super cool, specially because Hugo nor Marion ever surfed before, and they loved it, big smile on their face, so on my mine!

After the long session we invited the teachers for a beer on the seashore, super cool moment, we talked about Tasmania, what to do next and how they love surf, if you come to Tasmania you should find them (Facebook 42 south surf school or at the coffee shop in a container) and go surfing together!

After we went for dinner with Panda, he explained us more about how all he has now is his backpack and his surf board and he has the feeling of doing the correct thing, of finally doing what he loves, helping people out, bringing a smile into their faces and living with the least as possible. After dinner he took us to a gorgeous place for sunset and then we headed close to the beach for camping, another great day just passed.

The teaching of the day.

I asked Panda if I would surf every day/week if I would manage to get better at it taking into account my current skills.

He told me, have you had fun? The best surfer is the surfer that enjoys the most ♥️

Diego!
