Today we woke up a bit colder than usually, but full of energy. Today's plan was to do the hike the weather would allow in Cradle Mountain and see wombats in the wild.

We had to drive about one hour to get to the national park entrance. From there we took a shuttle bus that takes you to the start of the hikes. We did the Dove lake, about 3 hours of majestic walk. Majestic because I love it when you are in the mountain and there is green, but here it is an exaggeration. It's so humid that everything is covered by green.

After that, we headed back by taking the shuttle bus at the end. We stopped on our way back on a path which is known for spotting wombats. And we found them! a wombat mom with its joey wombat, already too big to go inside the marsupial bag, super cute!

After smashing the two goals of the day, we drove east till Strahan. That was a long drive for Tasmanian standards, about two hours. We arrived and found a good restaurant. It was pretty expensive, but again this asian fusion, just awesome! We had a looong dinner, talking about life while drinking a couple of bottle pf Tasmanian Pinot gris.

After that, we started our adventure to find the famous 40 km beach in Strahan, Ocean beach. We struggled for the first time ever in Tasmania, everything else is very clearly sign posted, probably the wine had something to do. On the way to nowhere we saw a pub with some people inside and we went to ask. Well we went and I am now sleeping in one of these people's place, how did it happen? we started to talk, having a beer with them, talking about Tasmania and when the bar closed, they invited us to go to their place. We joked saying, is this a scam? One of them jumped on our van and we went there.

They prepared snacks, and even cooked something veggie for me, we had more beer, and in the end when it was time to sleep, we where on our way to the van and because we were in no good condition to drive, we were about to prepare our beds in the van and sleep in the parking slot.

One of them came and offered us an apartment next to theirs so we could sleep there. The hospitality remembered me the one from the surf teachers on the other side of the island, also at the 42° longitude south. It's amazing how Tassie people are so open and warm, you should come here!

Good night,

Diego!
